World War I (1914-1918)

Wesley Decius Karker was born in Sharon Springs, New York, on July 13, 1894. He was living in the city of Schenectady while attending Union College, where he joined the Student Army Training Corps.

On July 1, 1916, Wesley enlisted in the United States Army. He was a sergeant serving with Company F, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. On May 17, 1918, he was sent overseas aboard the U.S Army troopship USS President Grant. On September 30, 1918, he was killed in battle during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in the Slate Hill Cemetery in Schoharie, New York.
