Neil Joseph Lyons was born in Glens Falls, New York, on September 17, 1891. By 1916, he was living in the city of Schenectady with his mother and stepfather. He worked for General Electric before joining the military.
On May 10, 1918, Neil enlisted in the United States Army. He was assigned to Fort Hancock in New Jersey and held the rank of Sergeant. Neil died of pneumonia on October 17, 1918, at Fort Hancock. He is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Glens Falls, New York.
