World War II (1939-1945)

John Joseph D'Ambrosio was born in Schenectady, New York, on November 14, 1911. He was living in the city of Schenectady when he was a student at Nott Terrace High School. He was an accomplished bowler, recognized and respected in the bowling community. Before entering the military, he worked in General Electric's welding department.

John enlisted in the United States Navy and was part of the Seabees, which was the highest-paid group in the US military due to all the skilled journeymen in their ranks. While stationed in North Africa on July 1, 1943, he was killed in a motor truck accident. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
