World War II (1939-1945) 

Charles W. Conroy was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on May 9, 1919. By 1930, he was living with his mother in the village of Scotia in Schenectady County, where he later earned his diploma from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1937. In the year 1940, he was living on Cutler Street in the Mont Pleasant neighborhood in the city of Schenectady with his mother.

On September 4, 1940, Charles enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private first class serving with the HQ Detachment, 2nd Battalion, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. During the Battle of Saipan on July 7, 1944, Charles was killed in action. He is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Hawaii.
