Charles James Davis was born in Shushan, Washington County, New York, on November 26, 1888. By 1910, he had moved to the city of Schenectady and started working for General Electric.
On February 23, 1918, Charles enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private serving with Company F, 305th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division. On April 16, 1918, he was sent overseas aboard the U.S. Army troopship Cedric. On October 3, 1918, Charles was killed during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial in France.
