World War II (1939-1945)

Alfred L. Battaling was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 22, 1925. He grew up on Orchard Street in the city of Schenectady, and before entering the military, he attended Mont Pleasant High School.

On April 7, 1943, Alfred enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a sergeant serving with the 728th Bomb Squadron. On January 7, 1945, he was killed in action over Germany. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
