Anthony Palkovic, the son of Cyprian and Helen Palkovic, was born in 1925, in New York State. He was living with his family in Schenectady by the 1930 census. Anthony attended McKinley Junior High and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1943, where he played fullback on the football team.
On April 13, 1943, Anthony enlisted in the United States Navy. He completed his basic training at Sampson Naval Base and thereafter attended an electrical school in Detroit, Michigan. Anthony held the rank of Electrician's Mate Second Class. On August 2, 1944, while ready to sail on the USS Burrows, he died and was taken to a naval hospital in Brooklyn; the cause of death remains unknown. Anthony is buried at Sts. Cryril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
