Jackson Sterling Littrell was born in Massachusetts, on September 28, 1916. By 1920, he was living in the city of Schenectady, graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1935, and obtained his pilot's license before entering the military.
On September 27, 1941, Jackson enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute. He was a captain and was stationed at Wright Field, Dayton in Ohio, in 1945. On October 27, 1945, Jackson was killed when the C-47B he was flying crashed due to engine trouble while attempting an emergency landing en route from Wright Field, Ohio, to Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
