Grant Hill Cutler was born in Saint Albans, Vermont, on November 3, 1893. He was educated in Vermont public schools and also attended business college. Grant and his wife made their home in Schenectady while he was employed with the General Electric.
On November 21, 1917, Grant enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Camp Devens in Massachusetts. He was a private serving with Company C, 303rd Ammunition Train. On February 27, 1918, he was deployed overseas, and on March 14, 1918, at Brest, France, he died of pneumonia. He is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland, Vermont.
