Henry James Pawkett Jr., the son of Henry and Antoinette (LaFountain) Pawkett, was born on February 16, 1925, in Fort Edward, New York. After graduating from Draper High School in 1942, he started working for General Electric.

Henry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He held the rank of Corporal and served with Company A, 4th Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, FMF. On February 19, 1945, Henry was killed in battle on Iwo Jima. He is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
