George Edward Palmer, the son of Rocco and Amelia Palmer, was born on March 26, 1923, in Schenectady, New York. Before entering the service, he graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and worked for the General Electric.

On January 5, 1943, George enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, beginning his training as an aviation cadet in Santa Ana, California, and his advanced training in Amarillo, Texas. He was a Sergeant in the 367th Bomb Squadron of the 306th Bomb Group, Heavy. On October 18, 1944, at Coventry, England, George was involved in a dangerous circumstance that resulted in his death (died non-battle).  He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
