World War II (1939-1945)

Robert Francis Mahoney was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 11, 1925. He grew up in the city of Schenectady on Brandywine Avenue, attended St. Columba's School, and worked for the David Mahoney Company. 

In August 1943, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Camp Edward in Massachusetts. He was a corporal serving with Company I, 253rd Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division. On April 16, 1945, Robert was killed in battle in Germany. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, New York.
