World War II (1939-1945)

Louis Peter Mach was born in Schenectady, New York, on June 7, 1920. He grew up in the city of Schenectady and worked for General Electric before entering the military.

In March 1943, Louis enlisted in the United States Army. On December 16, 1943, the train Louis was riding on crashed in Robeson County, North Carolina. He was returning home to be with his wife as she gave birth to their baby; four days later, they had a son. He is buried in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam, New York.
