On January 1st, 1893, Zygmund Plomienski was born in Russia. He arrived in the country in June 1911 and made his home in Schenectady. Zygmund was employed by the American Locomotive Company prior to joining the army.

On September 21, 1917, Zygmund enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private and served with Company E, 327th Infantry Regiment. On October 15, 1918, Zygmund was killed in battle during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in the Meuse Argonne American Cemetery, France.
