Marcel Omer Tetrault was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 15, 1923. He grew up in the town of Rotterdam, in Schenectady County, New York. While growing up he competed in numerous soap box derby races. He was a student at Draper High School, and before entering the military, he was working for the American Locomotive Company and the Army Service Forces Depot.
On December 14, 1942, Marcel enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He completed basic training in Atlantic City in New Jersey and took an aerial gunnery and mechanics course at Fort Myers in Florida. Marcel was a sergeant when he was killed in an airplane crash in Alamogordo, New Mexico on February 15, 1944. He is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
