Albert Desimone was born in Schenectady, New York, on May 26, 1924. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, and after graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, he began working at the Army Service Forces Depot.
On December 11, 1942, Albert enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a staff sergeant serving with the 870th Bomber Squadron, 497th Bomber Group. Albert was prepared to return to Schenectady to see his family after surviving thirty missions, and on the evening of June 6, 1945, he boarded the B-29-40-BW Super Fortress known as "Dauntless Dotty," but shortly after takeoff, Dauntless Dotty crashed into the ocean, and he was never found. He is remembered at the Honolulu Memorial, Courts of the Missing, Hawaii.
