Edward Daniel Lynn was born in Minerva, Essex County, New York, on September 15, 1923. He attended Minerva Central Schools, where he played baseball and basketball and won the high jump competition. After 1942, he moved to the city of Schenectady and worked for the Shaffer Company and General Electric. While living in Schenectady, he won a bowling tournament.
On February 12, 1943, Edward enlisted in the United States Army. He underwent his training at Camp McCain in Mississippi, Fort Meade in Maryland, and Camp Forrest in Tennessee. He was a sergeant serving with the 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. Edward was killed in combat on November 26, 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in the Henri Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial in Belgium.
