World War II (1939-1945)

Leo J. Levesque was born in Van Buren, Maine, on March 26, 1919. In 1935, he relocated to the city of Schenectady with his family and started attending Central Park Junior High School and then Mont Pleasant High School, where he graduated in 1939.

On October 15, 1940, Leo enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort McClellan in Alabama. He was a technical sergeant serving with Company F, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. On July 11, 1944, during the Battle of Saipan, Leo was killed in combat. He is buried in the Golden Gate National Cemetery in California.
