Herbert Leroy Tuttle Jr. was born in Saratoga Springs, New York, on July 16, 1949. While living in the city of Schenectady, he was a student at Linton High School and worked at Krueger's Food Market.
On August 3, 1966, Herbert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a lance corporal serving with Company H, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Amphibious Brigade, 4th Marine Regiment. Herbert was shot while stationed in the Quang Tri Province in South Vietnam, and died from his wounds at Camp Drake in Japan, on May 9, 1968. He is buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie, New York.

He Served and Died Well

He Did His Duty Well
