Bennie Stephen Homic, the son of Casimir and Marion (Skumurski) Homic, was born on October 15, 1902, in Schenectady, New York. He worked at the American Locomotive Company.

Bennie spent sixteen years in the United States Navy, retired for a while, and was then recalled to duty on June 15, 1940. He was a First Class Machinist's Mate at the time. On January 24, 1942, Bennie went missing at sea aboard the US Submarine 847 in the Gulf of Panama. He is remembered on the West Coast Memorial, California.
