Michael Thomas Esposito was born in Schenectady, New York, on February 4, 1917. He grew up on Van Vranken Avenue in the city of Schenectady and was a student at Nott Terrace High School. He was employed by Tom’s Barber Shop on Van Vranken Avenue before entering the military.
In February 1941, Michael enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort McClellan in Alabama. He was a sergeant serving with the 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. In March 1942, he was deployed to Hawaii, and on July 3, 1944, he died from wounds sustained during the Battle of Saipan. He is buried in St. Anthony Cemetery in Glenville, New York.
