World War II (1939-1945)

Angelo Fortunato Cicciu was born in Schenectady, New York, on September 20, 1922. He grew up on Dewitt Street in the city of Schenectady and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1940. While there he was involved in the track team, the fencing and archery clubs, the Society of Music, and the National Honor Society. He continued his studies at the Bentley School of Accounting in Boston, where he graduated in June 1942. Angelo was a cost accountant for General Electric before entering the military.

On October 17, 1942, Angelo enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Camp Butner in North Carolina. He was a technician fourth grade serving with Headquarters Company, First Army. On December 18, 1944, Angelo was killed in battle in Belgium. He is buried in the Henri Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial in Belgium.
