World War II (1939-1945)

Robert Stanley Cherry was born in Schenectady, New York, on July 8, 1921. He grew up in the city of Schenectady. Before entering the military, he worked for General Electric, Wallace Company, and the Maqua Company.

On October 10, 1942, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Camp Croft in South Carolina. He was a private first class serving with the 126th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division. On December 11, 1944, Robert was killed in battle in the Philippines. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines.
