Edward M. Capullo was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 27, 1918. He grew up in the city of Schenectady and was a student at Mont Pleasant High School.
Edward enlisted in the United States Army. He was a staff sergeant serving with the 62nd Coast Artillery before taking part in World War II. He was a champion boxer, and in 1936, he held the title of middleweight champion for the Fort Totten Post, and in 1938, he was named the Army and Navy's middleweight champion. He also received merits in baseball, basketball, and football.
In June 1943, he was sent overseas and saw action in England, France, and Germany while serving with the 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. On March 3, 1945, Edward was killed while fighting in the European Theater. He is buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial in France.
