World War II (1939-1945)

Robert E. Butch was born in Schenectady, New York, on July 8, 1924. He grew up on Schenectady Street in the city of Schenectady, and after graduating from St. Joseph's Academy, he went to Siena College in Loudonville, New York. 

In May 1943, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort Benning in Georgia. He was a private serving with the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Robert was killed in action on January 10, 1945, during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial in Hamm, Luxembourg.
