William John Antalek, the son of Michal and Rozalia Antalek, was born on September 20, 1911, in Schenectady, New York. Before enlisting, he worked on Clinton Street for the Union Star.

On October 9, 1943, William enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private and served with the 359th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division. On July 6, 1944, William was killed in battle in France. He is buried in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
